Baby portrait in soft natural window light

Soft light defines the quality of baby portraits. The best setup starts with a single window light source and a controlled background to keep skin tones natural.

  • Place baby at 30 to 45 degree angle from window light
  • Use white reflector opposite to window for gentle fill
  • Keep backdrop neutral to avoid color cast on skin
  • Use lower ISO and avoid direct flash on baby

When the baby is calm, keep changing angles instead of changing light.

Prepare two to three wraps and one parent pose in the same lighting zone. This reduces movement and keeps the session smooth, safe, and efficient.
