From the first unit test to the preliminary exam — a simple, repeatable way to set Maharashtra Board papers with answer keys.

Maharashtra State Board unit test question paper

Schools following the Maharashtra State Board run a steady calendar of assessments — unit tests, first and second term exams and, for the SSC and HSC years, preliminary exams. Each one needs a fresh paper, matched to the portion completed, with marks that add up and an answer key for checking. Doing that by hand for several classes and subjects is a big job.

This guide gives a repeatable process, and shows where a free tool such as ExamBee’s Maharashtra Board question paper generator helps.

1. Fix the portion and the pattern

Start with two decisions:

  • Portion — which lessons have been completed for this test.
  • Pattern — total marks, time, and how the paper is divided into questions.

For the SSC (Class 10) and HSC (Class 12) years, base term and preliminary papers on the latest question paper pattern and activity sheets issued by the board for each subject, as these are revised from time to time. For unit tests, a short paper of 20–25 marks is usually enough.

2. Choose the class, subject and lessons

ExamBee covers the Maharashtra State Board from Class 5 to Class 12 for English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science and Computer Science. Choose the class and subject and tick the lessons in your portion:

3. Build the paper section by section

A typical school paper moves from objective to descriptive:

  • Objective questions — choose the correct option, true or false, fill in the blanks, answer in one word.
  • Short answers — explain, give reasons, write a definition, solve a short problem.
  • Longer answers — where the subject and class call for them.

Decide how many questions and how many marks each, so the total matches the paper. ExamBee won’t build a paper until its sections add up to the total marks you set — a simple check that prevents the most common printing mistake.

4. Set the difficulty

Most of a school test should be accessible to the whole class, with a smaller share of questions that stretch the strongest students. Choose easy, medium, hard or a mixed paper, then review the result.

5. Review, brand and print

Read through the paper and replace anything that doesn’t match what you taught: in ExamBee you can swap, reorder or delete questions, or regenerate a section. Add your school’s name, address and logo, choose a paper design, and download a print-ready PDF — or images to share on a class group, or Excel if you want to edit it further.

6. Use the answer key for consistent checking

ExamBee gives a separate answer key with every paper. Share it with every teacher evaluating the same class so marking is consistent across divisions.
